What is CTTW?

The abbreviation CTTW refers to the total carat weight of gemstones in a piece of jewelry. Some pieces of jewelry have different gem pieces, such as a center stone surrounded by smaller, accent stones, including baguettes. The total combined weight of the stone in the piece is the CTTW.
CTTW can be provided for a piece of jewelry to designate the total weight of all combined gemstones or the total weight of each type of gem in one jewelry piece if there are multiple kinds, such as sapphires and diamonds. A jewelry set, such as a ring, pendant and earrings that are sold together, may list a combined CCTW for the entire set.
