To fix scratched sunglasses, rub the scratches with nonabrasive toothpaste for a few seconds, and rinse the glasses with cool water. Repeat the process if necessary until all the scratches are gone. If the scratches don't disappear, substitute the toothpaste with a paste of baking soda, and repeat the process.
- Apply toothpaste
Dab nonabrasive tooth paste onto a cotton ball, and rub the glasses with the ball in circular motions for 10 seconds. When rubbing, apply moderate force to avoid scratching the glasses any more.
- Rinse the glasses
Wash away the toothpaste with cool water, and wipe off the excess toothpaste with a lint-free cloth. Blot the glasses dry, check the glasses for scratches, and repeat the process until the scratches disappear.
- Apply baking soda if necessary
For stubborn scratches, pour 1 part water in a mixing bowl, add 2 parts baking soda, and then mix to form a paste. Dab the paste onto a cotton ball, and rub the scratches with the ball in a circular motion for 10 seconds. Do not apply excessive pressure, as that may scratch the glasses. Rinse the glasses clean with cool water, and wipe off the excess paste with a lint-free cloth. Repeat the process until all the scratches are gone.
