What is fire watch training?

Fire watch training teaches individuals to prepare an area for hot work and monitor that area to ensure that fire doesn't break out. If it does, emergency measures are in place to maximize safety, notes Occupational Safety Councils of America. Jobs such as welding require fire watches for safety.

A fire watch training course teaches trainees where hot work is permissible and the precautions necessary to ready a place for hot work. Trainees also learn the responsibilities and roles of fire watchers and other people joining in the hot work. The needed emergency procedures for a hot work site are also part of the course, according to OSCA.
