Acerola, or West Indian cherry, is the fruit with the highest vitamin C content. Every 100-gram serving of acerola provides 1,677 milligrams of vitamin C. Acerola is also used for treating scurvy, a condition resulting from a deficiency of vitamin C.

Guavas, dried lychee and currants have the next-highest vitamin C content among fruits. Per 100-gram serving, these fruits contain 228 milligrams, 183 milligrams and 181 milligrams of vitamin C respectively.

Vitamin C is important for a person's growth and development. This water-soluble vitamin and antioxidant helps repair and maintain tissues, skin, bones and teeth. It also helps heal wounds and prevent damage caused by free radicals.
