Oswego tea is a tea made from Monarda didyma, a medicinal plant. The plant is also called bee balm. The tea is used to manage symptoms of PMS, according to WebMD.
According to WebMD, Oswego tea can be used to treat digestive discomfort, gas, fluid retention and fever, as well as PMS. However, the source asserts that there is not sufficient medical evidence to support these claims. Oswego tea is not recommended for use with lemon balm. Consumers should be sure they are purchasing Oswego, as both Oswego and lemon balm are referred to as bee balm. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use Oswego tea.
