Basic training, or boot camp, for the United States Army is a 10-week training course that is designed to transform civilians into soldiers, according to the Army's website. Basic combat training teaches the seven core Army values, while ensuring recruits know how to work together as a team of soldiers.
During the 10-week basic-training boot camp, newly enlisted members of the Army are provided with uniforms and briefed on procedures, expected behavior and policies of the military branch. During the boot camp, recruits are trained and tested on physical fitness, marksmanship, tactical foot marches, situational maneuvers, combat skills and night infiltration procedures.
