What is tribal rule?

The concept of tribal rule refers to the ability of a group of a singular culture or ethnicity to enact their own government while within the borders of another nation. Groups like Native American tribes have their own systems of governance separate from the U.S. government.

Tribal rule is usually seen as a system of power established by a small group of people with advanced enough needs that some form of organization is needed. Indigenous peoples are found on every continent, but only a few of these groups have any self-governing rights within the country in which they find themselves living. Some members of these groups do not even have the rights of regular citizens of the nation they reside within.
