According to WebMD, people who suffer from acid reflux should eat a diet rich with low acid foods. These foods will alkalize the stomach and help reduce acid reflux symptoms.
WebMD states that low acid foods are foods that have a high pH. The higher the pH value of a food, the less acidic. People suffering from acid reflux disease should aim to eat foods with pH values above 5. Examples of low acid foods include whole grain breads; brown rice; green vegetables such as broccoli, green beans and celery; potatoes; fish; and egg whites. All of these foods are low in acid if eaten, boiled or baked. Foods that are fried are likely to cause acid reflux symptoms.
