The Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has published the official list of American soldiers who went missing in action during the Korean War online at DPAA.mil. As of 2015, this information is organized by the soldier's state of residence or military branch and is in PDF file format.
Originally a civil war between what is now North and South Korea, the Korean War eventually involved several Western nations, including the United States, due to the United Nations. For the United States, the Korean War began in 1950. Although the war did not officially end, the United States signed a ceasefire agreement in 1954.
