The Caddo Indians ate a varied number of foods, including corn, pumpkin, deer, turkey and bison. The Caddo people also fished the river that ran between their tribes. They were also able to cultivate shellfish from the river.
The hunting of bison was limited mostly to the Caddo tribes that lived along the edges of the plains. When hunting for any wild game, the tribes used bows and arrows. The bows were made from bois d'arc wood. The arrows were often made from cane and tipped with stone arrow heads. The Caddo had an extensive trading route with many other Native American tribes which led to new foods and materials being brought into the area.
