What did Victorian money look like?

Victorian money came predominantly in coins and notes. The coins were made of gold, silver and bronze and had images of Victorian royalty carved into their faces.

Bank notes limited to the values of ?5, ?10, ?20, ?100, ?200, ?500 and ?1,000 were officially issued by the Bank of England, according to historical novelist Anne Perry. The Victorian coin worth two pounds had an image of George IV's profile carved into one face and a horse carved on the other. The half penny was made of bronze and had Queen Victoria's profile etched on one side and a soldier on the other.
