Who invented the assembly line?

The assembly line was invented by Henry Ford on Dec 1, 1913. The first assembly line was invented for the production of the automobile, reducing the time of production from over 12 hours to 2.5 hours

Before the invention of the assembly line, Ford produced his Model T cars by dividing the assembly process into 84 steps and training each worker to do one step a piece. Workers used rope conveyor belts to build motors and transmissions. A mechanized conveyor belt was introduced in Feb 1914, moving at a speed of six feet per minute and allowing factories to produce automobiles at a faster pace.
