Who invented x-rays?

X-rays occur in nature, and they were discovered by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, a German professor at Wuerzburg University in 1895. The discovery was made by applying high-voltage current to a cathode ray tube.

Roentgen realized that the energy emitted by the cathode ray tube could travel through most substances, including human skin. However, the rays could not pass through bone and left a shadow of the bone's shape behind it. Within one month of discovery, this new technology was being adopted and implemented in the medical and dental communities.

Prolonged exposure to X-rays can be harmful to human health. As a result, strict guidelines have been established to minimize the risks associated with X-rays.
