Where was paper invented?

Many people think of paper as having its start in Egypt, but paper similar to what is used today was actually created in China. The invention is credited to Ts'ai Lin, who created his version of paper around 150 AD.

There are indications that there may have been other kinds of paper invented earlier in China's history, but Ts'ai Lin is still given the credit because his method and type of paper revolutionized the country. In his method, fibers were beaten to a pulp and then lifted out of a slurry vat and onto a mold made of coarsely woven cloth on a wooden frame.
