What is an Indian ornamental tarantula?

The Indian ornamental tarantula is a member of the Theraphosidae family and native to the monsoon forests of India and Sri Lanka. Their exotic nature makes them a favorite of arachnid enthusiasts though their aggressive nature and deadly venom make them a poor choice for beginners.

The overall color of the species is gray, with unique striped and V-shaped patterns of black and white. Adult males have an average leg span of 7 inches, with females' leg spans reaching up to 9 inches. Bright yellow spots are present under the first pair of legs, visible when the arachnid raises itself into a defensive position.
