What is a dive compass?
By Forinfos - 23/03/2026 - 0 comments
A dive compass is a waterproof, pressure-resistant compass designed for use by scuba divers. Most are designed to be extremely lightweight and portable, fitting over the wrist like a watch or clipping onto one of the straps that holds scuba equipment.
Using a dive compass underwater is quite similar to using one on land, but divers must take extra care to hold the compass level and parallel to the surface of the water, not letting the angle of their bodies confuse the compass readings. The use of a dive compass is taught as part of the certification process for the North American Advanced Open Water Diver certificate.
