The updated rules governing septic systems in Ohio went into effect on Jan. 1, 2015. The rules were developed as required by Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3718 and Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3701-29. Funding is available in 2016 through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to assist eligible homeowners with the cost of repair or replacement of failing septic systems, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
