Silver's discovery of a sticky substance known as "microspheres" had a high "tack," low "peel" characteristic but no immediate practical application for it. Fry, meanwhile, needed a bookmark for his choir hymnals that would stick to the pages and not constantly fall out. In a flash of inspiration, he remembered Silver's adhesive and realized that a sticky note would perfectly solve his problem. Fry and Silver then entered into a joint venture to further develop their product, later known as Post-it Notes.

A rectangle adhering to the golden ratio would have a height of x and a width of 1 that could be divided at a height of x - 1 such that the new rectangle would have the same ratio of height to width.\nThe value for x that creates the golden ratio is an irrational constant equal to approximately 1.62. This ratio is quite important in mathematics, as it is approximated in the Fibonacci sequence and is often seen in natural formations, such as the shell of a nautilus.

The first civilization is widely accepted to have appeared between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in modern Iraq around 3200 B.C. The region was called Mesopotamia. Before the rise of Mesopotamia, humans were generally hunter gatherers. However, with the onset of the Stone Age and the discovery of tools, Neolithic humans began to organize themselves into communities. These communities were supported through animal domestication and farming practices. These small farming villages that settled in fertile regions were the seeds for the civilizations to take root. The research originally commissioned by the U.S. government during the 1960s was intended to enable top secret military information to be safely and quickly shared across intelligence and research locations across the U.S. The first systems that were developed, however, did not begin to resemble the modern Internet until the 1980s when funding from the National Science Foundation, along with support from private and commercial interests, led to the creation of new systems that were capable of merging with other existing networks. By the 1990s, the transformation often referred to as the "comme..

Puritan clothing was modest, plain and practical. Fancy frills, lace, ribbons and even buttons were proscribed. Men and women both dressed modestly, covering everything but hands and face at all times. Women and girls were expected to always cover their hair with a cap or coif. Very young children and babies wore loose shifts, a dress-like garment, while children over the age of 4 or 5 dressed like miniature adults. While hats and shoes were often shown with large buckles on them, these garments were usually plain and black. Shoes were low-heeled and practical.\nWhile Puritans have the reputat..

According to Firstworldwar.com, Austria-Hungary pulled in the armies from its European empire. Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Italians, Bosnians and Croatians all fought on the Axis side of the war. Germany eagerly entered the war as an ally, but its much greater expertise in waging war soon made it the dominant partner in the new alliance. By 1916, Austria-Hungary was following Germany's lead, and low morale coupled with an ethnically diverse and increasingly Balkanized army began to weaken the once-formidable empire.\nAs the war dragged on, Austria-Hungary's empire began to dissolve. Thomas Jefferson, future President of the United States, wrote the Declaration of Independence during the summer of 1776. In it he outlined the justifications for the colonies declaring independence.
