Peter the Great was born on June 9, 1672 in Moscow and given the name Pyotr Alekseyevich. He was the 14th child of Czar Alexis and Natalya Kirillovna Naryshkina. Peter was crowned Czar in 1682 when he was 10, and jointly ruled with his brother Ivan. After Ivan's death in 1682, Peter became the sole ruler of Russia.During his reign, Peter the Great worked to establish Russia as a powerful European nation. Khafre was the fourth ruler of the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. The Great Sphinx is one of Khafre's projects, and many Egyptoligists think that it bears Kafre's face. These reservations were set up after several bloody altercations with the settlers that were looking for gold in the Arapaho territory.
