More than 90 species of frogs live in the United States. Frogs have a variety of skin colors, bone formations and sound capabilities. Most frogs species live in warm, sub-tropical climates. The population of frogs is a bio-indicator of the health of an ecosystem. With frogs taking on the role of both predator and prey, many animals are affected by even the slightest change in frog populations. While most frogs are born in the water as tadpoles, some frogs are born fully developed, allowing them to live in places with little access to water, such as mountaintops.

After the mother lays the egg, the father is responsible for keeping the egg warm for the next two months. The male emperor penguin balances the egg on his feet and covers it with a warm patch of feathers known as the brood pouch. During this two-month span, the females are on an extended hunt and the males go without food to protect the egg.\nThe female penguins return to the breeding site with a belly full of food that they regurgitate into the mouths of the newly hatched chicks. It then becomes the male's turn to hunt for food while the female stays and watches over the hatchling. The ..

Female and male lobsters each play a specific role in the mating ritual. Female lobsters grow more slowly, often going several years between molts. Just before molting, the female lobster identifies her preferred male, approaches his den and sends out a pheromone attractant. The male responds by meeting the female for a brief ritual dance, after which they return to the male's den, where the female molts and becomes ready to mate. During the mating process, the male passes his sperm to the female using his specialized swimmerets.\nThe female remains in the male's den until her new sh..

Polar bears live on a steady diet of seal fat, but also feed on any other animal they can kill. As avid hunters, their massive claws are capable of pulling a 150-pound seal out of the water. After cleaning an animal of its blubber, polar bears often leave the carcass behind so that other animals may have the rest of the meal.\nPregnant polar bears go into a hibernation den during the winter months. They do not actually hibernate, rather they stay with their young for the winter. Females and cubs emerge from their dens in spring. During that time, they live off of their ample fat reserves and t..

Do hummingbirds ride on Canadian geese when the geese migrate?

Canadian geese travel to the southern United States during the winter, while most hummingbirds migrate to the Florida Keys, Mexico or Central America. One type of hummingbird, the Anna's hummingbird, does not migrate at all. Hummingbirds typically begin their journeys in early fall, while Canada geese migrate in late fall. Different diets also make traveling together impossible. Hummingbirds need nectar from flowers, which would not attract geese. As a result, hummingbirds would probably starve if they tried to migrate on geese.

The teddy bear cut opts for more hair on the face, leading to a rounder, fuller look. The rest of the body can have a cut of a different style and length. Another grooming style is the top knot show cut. This more elaborate look is appropriate for show dogs due to its maintenance level and is typified by letting the shih tzu's hair grow as long as possible. The hair is then straightened and brushed regularly. This style does not account for temperature, so it is not recommended for warmer climates.

To prevent bottom sitting, do a partial water change on the aquarium at least once a week. Removing 15 percent of the water keeps ammonia, nitrate and nitrite levels at a healthy level for the goldfish. Check the goldfish often for any raised bumps that might be caused by parasites. Soak goldfish food in dechlorinated water before feeding so that the goldfish does not ingest oxygen, which can also cause bottom sitting.
