Koalas rarely leave the eucalyptus trees they feed from and sleep up to 18 hours a day. Their claws and opposable digits allow easy climbing. Most of the moisture the koala intakes is derived from eucalyptus leaves, allowing the koala to stay aloft in its tree for longer durations. Eucalyptus leaves are poisonous, but the koala has a specialized digestive tract that can counter the effects of the poison. Because koalas spend most of their waking time eating, they smell similar to the oil of the eucalyptus leaves.

Standing approximately 3,794 meters above sea level, this volcano is the largest of three active volcanoes that sit on Ross Island in Antarctica. The volcano was discovered during an eruption by explorer James Ross in 1841. The island also houses the McMurdo research station, which has been monitoring Mt. Erebus' eruption characteristics since 1972.

Sulfur hexafluoride has such an effect on the voice because of its density in comparison with air. Whereas helium is lighter than air, sulfur hexafluoride is about five times heavier and is one of the heaviest gases. A pure gas, it is nontoxic, unreactive and nonflammable. However, it is usually in a mixture containing other impurities that could be damaging to human health if inhaled. Sulfur hexafluoride in the atmosphere can remain for thousands of years.

Deep Impact reached Tempel 1 on July 4, 2005, and its mission ended on Sept. 20, 2013. The spacecraft was lost due to a software glitch in its fault protection software which rendered it inoperable by causing the computer to continually reboot. Before this failure, Deep Impact completed its mission to Tempel 1 and went on to survey two other comets: Hartley 2 and ISON. Its close up photographs of these comets provided an unprecedented look at their physical structure.\nThe spacecraft also performed a successful secondary mission of searching for planets in other solar systems; data returned by..

These mammals use their antlers against natural predators such as lions and cheetahs. Compared to deer and elk, antelopes do not grow to be very big. They average around 30 to 40 inches in height, and around 100 to 120 pounds. Antelopes are opportunistic feeders. They forage on shrubs, berries and other types of plants in their environment. Typically, antelopes roam within a 20 to 40 mile radius in order to find fresh sources of foods and to avoid predators.

Strontium bromide can be written using its molecular formula, SrBr2. Its melting point is 1,189 degrees Fahrenheit. This chemical compound has various pharmaceutical uses and is commonly used in medicines. It is also used as an analytical reagent.\nSince strontium bromide has corrosive properties, the compound is considered to be slightly hazardous. In a flame test, strontium bromide typically turns bright red. This reaction is why strontium bromide is used in the manufacture of flares.
How can we stop acid rain?

Acid rain is caused mainly by the emission of sulfur dioxide (SO2) from coal-burning power plants. Vehicles are also major sources of the pollutants that cause acid rain by emitting nitrogen oxides. Usages of renewable energy sources can help to reduce acid rain because these sources are free from sulfur and produce less pollution. Vehicle manufacturers are required to use technologies in their vehicles that reduces the amount of nitrogen oxides and other pollutants released by it. One type of technology can be used in vehicles is called catalytic converter. This technology is very effective i..

Symbiotic relations are interactions between species in which at least one benefits. In the first example, mistletoe uses its roots to burrow into the bark of the trees and extract nutrients. This is harmful to the tree, causing death of limbs or the tree itself, which makes mistletoe a parasite of the tree.\nFoxes do not always hunt their own food; they often scavenge the remains of kills from other predators, such as wolves. The fox simply waits for wolves and bears to eat their fill and leave before moving in on the carcass. The wolf is not harmed by this interaction and the fox gets a free..
