Plains are flat expanses of land that usually exist at a lower altitude than the surrounding landscape. A plain usually has little change in elevation within it. Examples of plain habitats include forests and grasslands. Plateaus are also flat expanses of land, but they exist on a higher plane than the surrounding landscape. Plateaus often connect with the surrounding landscape by means of steep slopes.\nHills and mountains are both elevated landforms, with mountains being the higher of the two. A bamboo plant that starts to yellow needs immediate attention. When the bamboo stalk starts to yellow before the leaves, the problem likely started at the base. Too much fertilizer, the wrong type of fertilizer, dirty water and lack of water are likely causes of yellowing bamboo.\nIf a stalk of bamboo turns yellow, it needs to be removed from plant arrangements to prevent it from affecting the other plants. If the leaves yellow first, there is more time to correct any issues in the plant's environment. Bamboo plants need indirect sunlight, a comfortable, room-temperature environment and ..
What are examples of translucent objects?

Translucency, sometimes known as semi-transparency, is a form of transparency. It allows light to pass through, but unlike a transparent object, it does not allow said light to form shapes. This happens because the photons scatter and the image becomes less focused. Certain ultraviolet rays, such as those from the sun, may go through a translucent object.\nOpacity is the opposite of translucency. Light does not pass through opaque material. Instead, the material reflects light. Different objects reflect different colors.
Why does the price of gasoline fluctuate?

Gasoline is produced through the refinement of crude oil. The price for oil is in part determined by global supply and demand, as it is sold on the global market. A rise or fall in global demand relative to global supply can cause gasoline prices to fluctuate.\nEnvironmental Protection Agency rules state that gasoline blends that produce less smog must be sold from June to mid-September. Summer fuel blends are more expensive than winter blends. Weather-related disasters affect the price of gasoline because U.S. refineries are based primarily on the Gulf Coast. A weather disaster in that area ..

Meso compounds generally contain two or more identical chiral centers. They also have an internal symmetry plane that divides the entire compound into two parts. These two halves of the compound reflect each other and cancel out the chiral centers in the compound. As a result, the compound is optically inactive. To be optically active a compound must have a chiral center that does not cancel out. Cyclic and aliphatic compounds can both be meso compounds.
