The Boles Fire destroyed 157 single residences and 8 pieces of non-residential commercial property in the city of Weed in Siskiyou county. The fire began on September 13, 2014, and was fully contained by September 20th after burning 516 acres.
In October 2014, authorities arrested and charged Ronald Beau Marshall with arson for starting the Boles Fire. He plead not guilty. As of March 2015, Marshall's defense has asked that the case against him be dismissed due to insufficient evidence at his preliminary hearing. The King Fire in El Dorado County destroyed only 12 single residences, but it burned 97,717 acres of wilderness.
