What 2014 movie releases made the most money in box office sales?

"American Sniper" was the highest grossing 2014 movie release in the United States, making $337,442,628. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" came in a close second and third, both grossing amounts of over $330 million in the United States.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "The LEGO Movie" rounded out the top five domestic box office successes, each earning in the $250 million range.

Worldwide, "Transformers: Age of Extinction" was the highest grossing 2014 movie. It made over $1 billion globally, nearly $300 million more than Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
