According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), a 6-foot, 2-inch man who weighs 220 pounds is considered overweight. The recommended weight for a man of that height is between 144 and 194 pounds. The CDC bases its advice on body mass index.
BMI uses the relationship between height and weight to determine if an individual has too much body fat, the CDC explains. It does not directly measure body fat, but, for most people, it provides simple, inexpensive and relatively accurate guidelines to follow.
The CDC considers a healthy BMI to fall between 18.5 and 24.9. Twenty-five to 29.9 is overweight, while 30 or above is obese. The body mass for a 6-foot, 2-inch man who weighs 220 pounds is 28.2.
