A 4K TV refers to any television that is capable of outputting 4K ultra HD picture quality. 4K TVs offer four times as much detail as 1080 pixel full HD televisions. The 4K pixels are typically arranged in a 3,840 x 2,160 configuration.
The higher pixel density translates to greater texture, finer detail, enhanced picture quality and an immersive visual experience. 4K is more effective on larger TV screens of 40 inches and above. Ultra HD 4K televisions are available from all major manufactures including Sony, LG, Panasonic and Samsung.
Aside from the cinema and television industry, 4K also applies to cameras, image capture tablets and smartphones, PC games and computer monitors among others.
