Does acupuncture treat infertility?

Acupuncture is used to treat certain types of infertility problems, according to the American Pregnancy Association. Acupuncture is often used in conjunction with herbs to stimulate blood flow to the uterus to produce a rich, thick lining. The practice may not help with conditions such as PID or endometriosis.

Infertile women usually begin an acupuncture and herb treatment three to four months before artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization or donor-egg transfer, according to the American Pregnancy Association. Acupuncture treatment often continues through week 12 of pregnancy to ward off miscarriage, which usually occurs within the first three months of pregnancy.
