Is there an age limit for jury duty?

There is no upper age limit for jurors at the state or federal level; courts only require that jurors be 18 years of age or older. However, some courts may exclude persons 70 years of age and older from the selection process.

While it may vary by jurisdiction, courts typically require that jurors are U.S. citizens, permanent residents of the judicial district, proficient in English, without disqualifying mental or physical conditions and free of any felony convictions.

Persons disqualified under federal jury include active members of the armed forces, state and local firemen and policemen and full-time public officials of local, state and federal governments.
