Who is Alan Ladd?

Alan Ladd was an American actor and producer. He was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Sept 3, 1913, and died on Jan 29, 1964, in Palm Springs, California. He was known for his work in Westerns and film noir.

The role of Raven in "This Gun for Hire" made Ladd an overnight star in 1942. That same year, he starred opposite Veronica Lake in the noir smash "The Glass Key." Four years later, Lake and Ladd were cast opposite each other in "The Blue Dahlia." Ladd is perhaps best remembered for his performance as the title character in "Shane," which is considered one of the greatest Westerns of all time.
