Alex Smith was the former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. He was drafted to the 49ers in the 2005 draft as the top choice. Smith continued playing for about seven seasons with the 49ers despite typical inconsistencies that come with being a young quarterback.

Smith did not become the starting quarterback for the 49ers until 2007. During his tenure as the 49ers' starting quarterback, he became injured repeatedly. Smith sustained a concussion during the 2012 season and was eventually replaced by Colin Kaepernick. In the 2013 season, Smith was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs as their starting quarterback.
