Although two studies seemed to indicate that aloe vera taken orally was beneficial for type 2 diabetes, another study did not show the same finding, reports the National Institutes of Health's MedlinePlus. To truly estimate the efficacy of aloe vera for diabetes, it is important to perform more trials, especially large double-blind trials, states New York University's Langone Medical Center.
Aloe vera is a plant that has been used throughout centuries by people to treat burns, wounds, skin problems, constipation and sunburns. The main ingredients from aloe vera used in herbal medicines are latex and the gel. The latex form is primarily used for constipation.
