Do Altimas have CVT transmissions?
By Forinfos - 29/05/2025 - 0 comments
As of 2015, the Nissan Altima features the manufacturer's Xtronic continuously variable transmission, or CVT. Nissan works with Jatco, which is a leading designer in CVT transmissions. The Xtronic CVT shifts around 30 percent faster than previous versions, and it has a gear reduction ratio of approximately six.
One of the primary drawing features to a CVT transmission is its ability to stretch out the gears in a drivetrain. As such, the gears ratios produced on the transmission allow the Nissan Altima to produce a gain in fuel economy.
A CVT transmission has no actual gears inside its housing. It uses an additional drive chain and pulley, which allows it to switch through all of the gears with precision.
