What is an aluminum flatbed?

An aluminum flatbed is the flat back part of a flatbed truck. It is made from aluminum with no roof or sides for the ease of loading and transporting cargo that is hardy enough to withstand exposure to the elements.

The flatbed can either be built onto the body of the truck or be part of an attached trailer. Flatbed trailers tend to be used for construction or industrial equipment as well as for large or unusually shaped loads that do not fit into a standard truck with sides and a roof. While aluminum is a common metal used for flatbeds and has the advantage of weighing less, flatbeds are also often made from steel.
