Subcuteanous injection is performed at either a 90-degree angle or a 45-degree angle, according to Pearson Education. Intramuscular injection is performed at a 90-degree angle in a quick and dartlike action. An intradermal injection is performed at a slight angle of 10 to 15 degrees.

One more type of injection is the Z-Track method, in which the patient's skin is displaced on one side of the injection on a ventrogluteal or dorsogluteal side, explains Pearson Education. When performing a Z-Track injection, the person giving the injection keeps the needle at a 90-degree angle and withdraws the needle before releasing the skin.
