What is angora made from?

Angora wool or fiber is made from the fur of an angora rabbit. There are five angora breeds used for wool: the English angora, the French angora, the German angora, the giant angora and the satin angora.
Wool is harvested approximately every 90 days by shearing the angora rabbits with clippers. Some angora rabbits molt, which allows their fur to be naturally harvested during grooming. Two non-angora rabbit breeds, the Jersey wooly and the American fuzzy lop, also produce fur that is used for fiber production, but it is not marketed as angora. Fiber is also collected from angora goats, but it is called mohair.
