What animals are affected by deforestation?

Any animals whose natural habitats are in forests that are being depleted, such as the tree kangaroo in Papua New Guinea and the Asian elephant, are affected by deforestation. Deforestation is one of the leading causes of the decline of many endangered animal species.
Deforestation is the process of destroying a forest by either natural causes, for expansion, or for logging and natural resource mining. When an entire ecosystem, such as a forest, is destroyed, all of the animals that inhabit that ecosystem lose their home and their food, often killing the animal population. The infringement of natural ecosystems by humans is a continuous threat to endangered species all over the planet.
