Antifungal soap is used to rid the body of fungal infections, such as athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm, according to Medical Digest. Antifungal soap is also helpful in treating acne, psoriasis and eczema.
Medical Digest explains that regular soaps are good at eliminating dirt and germs, but they do not contain the ingredients necessary to attack fungal infections. Antifungal soaps contain medicinal plant extracts that soothe the skin and prevent further proliferation of fungi. They also typically include essential oils that moisturize the skin and promote absorption. Continued use of antifungals soaps after the fungal infection is eliminated helps prevent relapse.
