How do you antique and stencil an old wooden rocking chair?

Making over a rocking chair requires little more than sandpaper, paint, primer and a few days to get the job done right. The real fun comes from selecting a favored stencil template in order to give the chair that personalized touch.
Start by sanding the rocking chair in order to smooth the surface. Next, prime the furniture, and then sand it again. Apply a coat of paint, and allow it to dry overnight. Top it off the next morning with a few more strokes. After spraying the stencil with a bond glue, apply it to the chair, and paint the pattern with a fine-tip brush. Once the stencil is pulled back, the chair should not be used for a couple of days before being put to proper use.
