The letters "a," "o" and "e" have a special meaning that is only revealed to Alpha Phi members during the formal initiation ceremony. The three letters are visible on the official Alpha Phi badge.
Alpha Phi uses an array of badges to identify and recognize its members. Full members wear the official badge, which combines the two Greek letters alpha and phi into an elegant piece of gold jewelry. Members who are in the process of joining the organization wear a new member badge that uses an ivy leaf to symbolize growth. Leaders of each college chapter wear a special honor badge, while members who have served the organization for at least 50 years may be given a special circular pin.
