What do army ants eat?

Army ants eat nearly any small animal or insect in their path. They are group predators that move in waves and eat everything that does not fly or run away. Snakes, spiders, lizards and insects that they encounter are all killed by the horde and consumed.

Army ants are native to South America, Central America and Africa and move in groups of thousands at one time. The ants usually move in a line, although some species move in a fan shape. As they march, the worker ants carry immature ants on their backs. Army ants make temporary nests by linking their jaws and legs together, usually from the limb of a tree.
