Do you have to attend a four-year college to get medical technician training?

A medical technician is generally not required to have a four-year bachelor degree in order to become certified. A two-year associate degree in a field related to medical laboratory sciences is usually sufficient.
It is recommended that medical technicians have a solid background in the sciences before beginning an associate program. This can usually be achieved through high school courses in biology, math, computer science, chemistry and related subjects. Graduates from associate degree programs may also have the opportunity to apply for certification from specialist organizations. Certification is usually awarded after taking a short course or training program, and then passing a test on the material.
