Do Australian Shepherds shed?

The Australian Shepherd or "Aussie" is an average shedder. It has a coat of medium texture with an undercoat. Aussies need occasional brushing but should be bathed only when necessary.
Aussies were developed in the western United States for ranch work. Their ancestors may have come from the Pyrenees Mountains on the French-Spanish border. Aussies are medium-sized, energetic, intelligent and eager to please. They come in many colors and are often born with naturally bobbed tails. As of 2014, they are still used for farm work but are popular for agility competitions and canine sports, such as flyball. They are also useful as search-and-rescue dogs, therapy dogs and narcotics detection dogs.
