The 4.6-liter Triton V8 engine gets an estimated 14 miles per gallon in the city and 19 miles per gallon on the highway. Ford used the Triton name on its modular engine from 1997 until 2010. The automaker used the engine in Ford pickups in V8 and V10 sizes.
The 4.6-liter Triton V8 engine produces 293 foot-pounds of torque at 3,500 rotations per minute, and 231 horsepower at 4,750 rotations per minute. The engine is available with cast iron or aluminum blocks, and in two-valve or three-valve single overhead cam styles, as well as with a four-valve double overhead cam. Mechanics assembled the engines at the Romeo Engine Plant in Romeo, Michigan, and the Essex Engine Plant in Windsor, Ontario.
