What is the average number of neurons in the human brain?
By Forinfos - 25/05/2026 - 0 comments
The average healthy human brain contains roughly 100 billion neurons. Neurons are the nerve cells of the brain and are different from all other cells in the human body because they are designed to last a lifetime.
Neurons form during fetal development, and each person is born with the amount of neurons that he or she will have throughout his/her entire life. However, there is evidence that the cells may continue to divide for a short period after birth and grow until an individual reaches adulthood. Neurons are designed not to die off like other cells in the human body, and they are protected by neuroglia, which are special cells that are designed to protect and support the neurons.
