As of January 2015, the average salary of a bank teller in the United States is $8.39 to $13.26 per hour, with a median of $10.47 per hour. This figure equates to approximately $17,686 to $29,046 a year, with a national average of $22,000.
Bank tellers are often eligible for bonuses and profit sharing that can amount to $1,000 to $3,000 a year. Exact salary amounts are dependent on the employer, the geographical area and the amount of experience the employee holds. Some bank tellers are not awarded medical, dental or vision benefits, but about two-thirds of tellers are awarded some type of medical coverage. About 77 percent of bank tellers are women.
