The average size of a washing and drying machine unit is twenty-four inches wide, twenty-two to twenty-four inches deep and thirty-three inches tall each. Washer and dryer set sizes are variable, however, and these specifications are averages for a compact set.
Stacked washer dryer units on average measure twenty-seven inches wide, thirty to thirty-two inches deep and seventy-five inches tall. Individual units vary, and experts recommend measuring the laundry area to ensure that there will be adequate space. Two to six inches of clearance from the wall on all sides is also recommended to allow for proper ventilation. At least two feet of clearance from the ceiling is recommended for stacking units.
