What is a baby beluga whale?

A baby beluga whale is the neonatal version of the beluga, or white whale. Beluga whales are born a brown or gray color which lightens to white as they age. A newborn beluga, also known as a calf, is about 4 feet long and weighs about 100 pounds.

A beluga whale is considered a medium-sized whale. It has teeth instead of baleen and lives in the Arctic. Like the Narwhal, it belongs to the Monodontidae family. Beluga whales grow to about 16 feet long. It's a plump whale with the unusual feature of a "neck." It has a very small head, a short beak and lacks a dorsal fin.
