You can find the balance on a Green Dot card by logging in to your account on Green Dot's website. You can also check your balance with your cell phone by texting "BAL XXXX" to 43411, where XXXX is the last four digits of your card number, notes Green Dot.

You can only check your balance by cell phone if you have registered the card number with Green Dot, according to the company's website. Green Dot does not charge for texts, but carrier data and message rates still apply. As of 2015, you can check your Green Dot card balance with either method 24 hours a day. You can also choose to have your account balance sent to your email address or phone daily, weekly or when your balance falls below $25.
