Bananas are actually very good for dogs. Bananas contain electrolytes, minerals, vitamins B6 and C, potassium, fiber, manganese and essential amino acids that provide nutritional benefits for dogs.
Performance and working dogs are often fed bananas because they contain natural sugars that metabolize quickly in dogs' systems. These natural sugars provide dogs with an instant energy boost during periods of strenuous activity. Bananas are also beneficial to dogs recuperating from illness or injury because they help to maintain normal blood pressure, heart function, fluid balance and digestive tract functions. The smooth texture of bananas also makes them extremely palatable to dogs.
