Bass Pro Shops was created by Johnny Morris in the 1970s in Springfield, Mo. The store started out as a mail-order type of company in which boats and fishing items were sold. By 1978, Johnny had expanded the store to sell a larger variety of boats and trailers. Eventually, Bass Pro Shops grew to carry more than just fishing supplies, as it began outfitting customers with clothing, hunting gear and camping gear. The company's headquarters is still located in Missouri.
